What is the idea behind SharedPlanets? |
The idea behind this project came to our minds sometime in spring 2006. Our good friends were looking for a special piece of art to their small flat - something colorful, original and with a strong story behind it. Something they will be able to talk to their friends about - more than just: This is a copy of a painting painted by X. Something they will be happy everytime they will take a look at it.
When we told them about the idea of SharedPlanets they loved it very much. The idea they will own a piece of a fantasy planet - and there will be around one hundred other pieces of the planet all around the world - in rooms of other people - was fascinating for them in the same way as it is for us. There will be around one hundred probably very different people around the world which share one great thing - the big painting of a planet.

Are the images framed? |
No, the images are sold as paintings on canvas (with white sides where may be color residues). You can frame it or let it be as it is, hang it on a wall or lay it on a desk...

How much is one painting? |
The planet consists of two sizes of paintings - 9.4 x 7.1" (24 x 18 cm) and 11.8 x 9.4" (30 x 24 cm). The price depends on the size of the painting and on its location in the whole painting too. You can see all the images with their prices here.

I would like to buy two copies of one image - one for my friend. Would you make a copy for me? |
We are sorry, but each image exists only once and we will never make any copies. But we recommend you to buy another image of the same planet - we are sure it is more interesting than to have the same images.

Is it possible to return the image? |
We hope everybody will enjoy his/her image and there won’t be a reason to do that. The process of returning of the image and the money may be quite complicated (because of the shipping fees, payment/banking fees etc.) and for this reason you never get the same amount you have paid. Please select your image carefully before buying to avoid this situation.

Can I order multiple images? |
We are not able to prevent it. But we would like the planet to be really shared among as much people as possible. If you buy more images then you get them separately.

Who are the people behind SharedPlanets? |
We are two friends from the heart of Europe. One of us is a young artist Pili, who painted all the images. And the second one - much less interesting :-) - is a web programmer who has written these webpages... You may contact us at images@sharedplanets.com.

May I somehow see a detailed view of the images? |
We took a few photos of selected images – just to show how the work is done and what technique was used. You may see the images are hand-painted – they are no prints or rendered images. There are visible brush-strokes, places with more or less intensive color, thin and thick paint layer. Just take a look:
